I can’t remember movies or books I’ve read, but I’ll never forget a room. No, I do not regret my time in the business world; it provided endless lessons, but my passion for design ended up squelching the practicalities of keeping my predictable career on track.
My passion is for working with homeowners who already have a sense of what they love and want to create spaces to reflect their style. I like to edit and curate the chaos of life into a palette that is authentic and streamlined. I’ve been told my work is “textural” and that my rooms are “warm.” I love modern, and I love traditional; I enjoy making new houses look old and old houses look new. The fun for me is tackling the challenge of adding patina (think barn beams) to a new build or sleekness to a historic home (think glass, metal, and steel).
I am happy when I am designing for my clients. I often sing while I work and I never leave my shoes on. My roster of happy clients resides in New York City, Nantucket, Connecticut and now more recently in Vermont. There is no project too large nor too small. I don’t take on clients who aren’t interested in developing a trusting and pleasant relationship. I prefer clients who will let me guide them to try something new for their home. Why are you calling a designer if you want to do things the same way you’ve always done it!?
